Truly a writing course to savour…
The snow-blinding whiteness of a blank page stared back at me, willing me to add a bit of colour. This has always been my problem – where to start. I have also always had a fear of writing something and then being terrified of somebody reading it and saying it was rubbish or silly and childish. I have now completed The Write Factor’s ‘Absolute Beginners Course’. I felt the fear, but did it anyway and I would encourage anybody who is lacking in confidence to sign-up for this course. You won’t regret it.
I found the course exciting and stimulating with plenty of support along the way. Each session coaxed a little bit more creativity out of me. The wonderful tips and helpful suggestions in each session gave me the confidence to put fingers to keyboard. I found the exercises interesting and there were plenty to choose from – something for everybody. There were lots of examples to give you an idea of what was expected. I thought working to a deadline would be scary, but it had the opposite effect. I became more focused. It encouraged me to write every day, giving me plenty of time to tweak and hone my writing.
I was so sad to receive the final session; I wanted the course to last forever. But what a finale. I read through Session 4 and when I came to the end I thought, Wow, this is going to be a thought-provoking and wonderful challenge. A challenge made easier by the amazing exercises and encouraging feedback all the way through the course. I felt a real sense of achievement; I had actually written something that I felt quite proud of.
I would compare the course to a well put together recipe for a fine dining meal. Top class ingredients all brought together for an amazing creative experience. Each session a new ingredient to try out. Characters, dialogue, plot, structure, culminating in a mouth-watering delight. Truly a course to savour.
I can’t praise the ‘Absolute Beginners Course’ enough. Roll on the next course.
