T hese days there are many ways to get your book published – it’s not like yesteryear when writers were subject to the whims and vagaries of ‘legacy publishers’ where a manuscript could languish on an editor’s reading list for months on end. You can decide to self-publish your book or pitch it to a publisher – the choice is yours – and we can help you do this: whether that is via Amazon’s CreateSpace, Kindle, digital or offset litho printing or if you want to pitch your book to a potential publisher.

CREATESPACE

Amazon’s CreateSpace publishing platform allows you to upload your print-ready PDFs and publish via its worldwide online bookshop. You get paid a royalty per book (generally 35% of the selling price less the unit cost) and they print, pack and despatch the book for you via their print-on-demand service. You can also order bulk discounted copies via this service and take advantage of their special promotional offers. The Write Factor offers an upload service for CreateSpace where we do all the hard work for you, either via your own account or TWF’s CreateSpace account (admin fees apply).

KINDLE

As with CreateSpace, Amazon offer a platform to publish as an e-book on Kindle. You will need to have your book converted to .mobi files* to do this, and we offer a Kindle upload service. You can either upload via your own Kindle account (recommended) or by TWF’s Kindle account (where administration fees apply).

* The Write Factor offers a file conversion service. See our Design page for details.

PRINT MANAGEMENT SERVICES

In addition to, or instead of, CreateSpace or Kindle, you may wish to have your book printed in bulk, either digitally or via the more traditional offset litho printing process. Our Print Management Service finds the best printer and most competitive quote for your book. We oversee the production process from the supply of print-ready PDFs to delivery of your book, to ensure that everything goes smoothly.

REPRESENTATION

The Write Factor offers a Representation service where we approach publishing companies or Literary Agents on your behalf, with a view to securing a publishing contract for your work.* Through our contacts in the industry and our extensive database of publishing houses and editors, we will endeavour to find the right publisher for you. Our Representation service includes the following: assessment of manuscript; evaluation of the potential market and audience for the work; research potential Publishers/Literary Agents; preparation of ‘Pitch’; all negotiations and facilitation necessary leading to a meeting with the author and potential publisher.

We charge a one-off fee for this service and do not take a percentage of royalties.

*The Write Factor reserves the right not to undertake this service if it considers a manuscript does not have sufficient potential for Representation.

“This an opportunity to thank you – Lorna and Rachel – for all the guidance you have given me and the fun we have had producing my first book. Not only have you helped me realise my aim of creating this dedication to my late wife Jan, our forty years together, our love and loss … but you have opened my eyes and my imagination to the possibilities of creative publishing : I have already started thinking about two further books ! Thank you so much.”
